Photoluminescent Pathway Marking

As a result of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and following the collapse of the buildings, New York City revised the building code for the safety of the building occupants. In June 2004, the New York City Council approved Local Law 26 requiring photoluminescent signs and markings in emergency staircases of high-rise office buildings as a result of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The code requires photoluminescent signs to be installed on doors leading to exits and photoluminescent markings to be installed in exit stairs of all high rise office buildings 75 feet or taller by July 1, 2006. Local Law 26 RS 6-1 requires buildings to have a maintenance program and keep “photoluminescent signs and markings in good repair”. Further it requires your building to be inspected annually.
